A. Piriyapokanon is an experimental filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist whose work explores resistance through cinema. Informed by life under censored media, she uses film to reflect on how narratives are constructed, controlled, and corrupted. Engaging media as both subject and form, she blurs fiction and non-fiction and draws from anti-cinema traditions to create works that expose the mechanics of power.
Her films and installations have participated in the Thai Short Film and Video Festival, SeaShorts Film Festival, Purin Pictures’ Short Film Camp, Bangkok Art & Culture Centre, Jim Thompson Art Center, Tawee Ratchaneekorn Art Gallery, 6060 Art Space, No Nation Art Gallery, International Museum of Surgical Science, and Gene Siskel Film Center.
A. Piriyapokanon holds a degree from Chulalongkorn University’s Department of Motion Pictures and Still Photography and Master of Fine Arts in Studio in Film, Video, New Media, and Animation from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
